We are living in a historic moment in time. The COVID-19 pandemic is reshaping most aspects of our daily lives. Future generations will look back on what we are doing now and learn from what we are experiencing. It is important for us to record the history that is happening right now for our future generations.
The Mamaroneck Historical Society invites all of our members and friends to submit their stories regarding life during the pandemic to us. Our goal is to share some of these stories on this website and our FaceBook page and to save all of them in our archives for the future as a historical record. We want to include first hand accounts of life during this moment in history. Stories, photos, and videos are all welcomed. Send them to Mamaroneckhistory@gmail.com
We would also like to extend an invitation to fill out an on line survey from the Association of Public Historians of New York State. This questionnaire, when sent, will go directly to the association and accomplish the same thing, saving the history of our current crisis for our future. This is a Google document. When you open the link please change the account to your personal email address.
We hope all will be safe, keep your distance, wash your hands, and help us record our history. Be well.

The COVID-19 Pandemic Virus
Cherry Blossoms are popping out
Birds are singing and flowers are sprouting
But we are not able to go about
Sequestered in “lock down”
And trying not to frown
Gee it would be nice if we could
Gather in town
Unfortunately the Covid-19 pandemic is keeping us down
We are praying that the virus will go away
So we can begin again to go out and play

MAMARONECK HISTORICAL SOCIETY
I AM AN 87 YEAR OLD MALE AND I HAVEN’T LEFT MY HOME SINCE MARCH 10, 2020. WITH THE WORLD BEING TURNED UPSIDE DOWN BY THIS COVID19 VIRUS, IT IS VERY HARD TO BE WITH FAMILY. I WORRY WITH MY SON AND GRANDCHILDREN OUT THERE WORKING ON THE FRONT LINES.
AS I SIT BY MY WINDOW I SAW VOLUNTEERS IN THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT PASSING OUT LUNCH BAGS FOR STUDENTS, ALSO PASSING OUT COMPUTERS TO STUDENTS TO COMPLETE THEIR LESSONS. ON TUESDAY APRIL 20, 2020 THE VOLUNTEERS AGAIN PASSED OUT BAGS OF FOOD TO VILLAGE RESIDENTS DURING A VEAVY WIND AND RAIN STORM. THERE WAS A LINE OF CARS A BLOCK LONG NON STOP.
I SALUTE THESE VOLUNTEERS THAT STAYED AT WORK DURING THIS PANDEMIC TO HELP OTHERS.
SINCERELY YOURS
