Jane's Walk of Mamaroneck's Five Historical Murals

Jane’s Walk of Mamaroneck's Five Historical Murals

Event Date:

Saturday, May 8, 2021 - 1:00pm

The Mamaroneck Historical Society, together with the Village of Mamaroneck, invites you on a FREE “Jane’s Walk” on Saturday, May 8th, at 1:00pm. We will stroll the Village and pause at the five historical murals – and consider their themes.

What does each mural tell us about our community?

This "Jane's Walk" will be led by John Pritts, Village of Mamaroneck Historian, and Phyllis Kaskel, Secretary of the Mamaroneck Historical Society. Participants will be encouraged to share stories about how the Historical Murals connect them to their neighborhoods and to the community.

What is a Jane’s Walk?

Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), a writer, urbanist and activist who championed the voices of everyday people in neighborhood planning and city-building. Since 2006, Jane’s Walk festivals take place every year in hundreds of cities and communities around the world. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighborhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbors.
